My original book is about vampires at school (a normal British school lol). Basically they become really popular due to the natural charm vampires have but there's a sort of Goth girl and her band of misfits who hate popular people and try to bring them down since the vampire people are horrible to her crowd. The story centres around a girl who is unnoticed at school, but when the school is forced to take sides either with the vampires or the misfits the girl chooses the misfits. And of course the misfits are so full of hatred that they pry into the vampire's personal lives and find out they're vampires and other stuff too, including how they came to the school looking for something to do with the end of the world. Yeah it goes a bit weird :P but I'm writing the post-apocalyptic sequel right now :D

My addition to the myth is that vampires need blood in order to stay attractive and have that entrancing effect, so it's more of an indulgence that actual food. Otherwise they're immortal and stop aging when the vampire gene kicks in.

Wow, I've heard about a lot of novels dealing with vampires/academies, but never about preppy/popular vampires (unless it's the Blue Bloods series by Melissa de la Cruz... one of the WORST books I've ever read in my life, by the way). And the concept of vampires needing blood to become more "beautiful" is a good idea.

Is it ever going to be posted on dA? I'd like to read it. I understand if it isn't going to be, because of the fear of someone stealing it... I've considered taking WBOH down before it was even finished for that reason. But then I started my daily routine of searching quizilla, fictionpress and google for any snippets of my ideas that could be stolen, and haven't found any. I type in "vampilim" and mine is the first one that shows up. :aww: Plus, the stealing evidently can't be that big of an issue, or else so many people wouldn't post their work online. The visual artists have it harder, because it's easier to steal artwork.

HAHA sooo many vampire books suck it's unbelievable, yet it's so easy to write a bad vampire book, as we already know. The thing about us though is, we KNOW what we hate in vampire novels and we know what we want to see! It helps that we as consumers can't find what we want in the market so we create it for ourselves.

Thanks :) it's great to know someone'd like to see my work! If I was going to post it I'd put it on another account since people are going to expect mainly art from here I think... bit of a problem at the moment in that I've finished the novel, but it's on paper and I've only typed up about a paragraph. If you really want, I'll hurry it up and post it up. I wouldn't mind some feedback actually, see if I'm going wrong anywhere plot- or logic-wise.

It is so easy to write a bad vampire book... but like ~TwilightApple said, there will always be a market for vampire fiction. There was Dracula, then there was The Vampire Chronicles, then there was Buffy, then the Blade movies, now Twilight... and after, hopefully me, you, and =alterrnativeWRITING. :)

I'd love to read it! And I think you should post it on the account you have now... you'd be surprised how many people who like visual art are willing to read the writing they make as well.

Ohhhh... I was in that predicament. It was awful. I had two-hundred handwritten pages that I gave to my friend to read, she moved, and never mailed them back. I had to start all from scratch.

Take your time, but you should post it. I'll give feedback. =] You've helped me a lot, so it only makes sense that I help you.

Wouldn't that be awesome! You, me and alt could be the holy trinity of vampire writers to come. ~TwilightApple has a good point and I feel reassured! Anyway it may be the case that by the time we're all done editing our novels the vampire boom will have subsided and there'll be a need for original talent again.

Well there's another reason I wouldn't want to post it on this account... I have quite a bit of exposure on this account (got my hundredth watcher the other day) and I'd be afraid of trolls. And, as you said, thieves! So I think for peace of mind I'll make a writing account and link you to it. I remembered I've actually already written the prologue so I'll get that up right away. (Lol I'm really excited! You'll be the first person I've shown this to).

Also, omg with that story. Never mailed them back?! I've got a friend who types everything up on the computer and prints everything off. I think he's got about 3 separate copies of 200 pages of the book. Actually come to think of it I gave him one of my failed stories to read and he must have had it for a year now and not finished it...
